The Curriculum
CIS offers the IGCSE,'A' Levels and the IBDP for its graduating classes.The School follows the Cambridge International Primary Programme for the primary years and the CIE Secondary1 in middle school. The students take the Primary and the Secondary Check Points (CIE) in grade 5 and grade 8 respectively.
The school is-a British Council-affiliated Centre for London Examinations with Edexcel International (Centre No. 93058) and for Cambridge International Examinations (Centre No. IN218). Calcutta International School is also an IB World School.
Textbooks are carefully selected keeping the CIE and the IB recommendations in mind. All such textbooks are provided by the school to students. Reference books of international standard are also available in the Library for the students to use.

  • Classes during Monday to Friday (Mon-Thur: 8.30 a.m. to 3.10 p.m., Fri: 8.30 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
  • Mon-Thur: 8 lessons of 40 mins duration each
  • Fri: 7 lessons of 40 mins duration each
  • Short break 11.00 a.mto 11.20 a.m and Lunch break 1.20 p.m to 1.50 p.m

Tuition and Counseling

At CIS, we don’t encourage out-of-school tuition sessions. Our teachers are there to help the students in every step they take and provide individual attention where required. So if the parents are out of town, CIS teachers supervise the student concerned at home, and also take subject tuitions for any student who is unable to study at school for timetable settings.

Exchange Programs

We have in place a friendly cooperation agreement on student exchange between CIS and Brannkyrka Gymnasium, Stockholm, Sweden. The exchange programme extends over 2011-2012 in several phases, including communication, socio-cultural cross-pollination and reciprocal campus visits.

Advanced Learning

CIS has an Advanced Learning Programme (ALP) for students in class 4 and students in the middle and senior school. The purpose of his programme is to identify students who are talented in Mathematics, Science or Verbal Reasoning and providing them with a challenging educational experience.
