At Calcutta International School, mental wellbeing is at the heart of our student-centred philosophy. Guided by our mission to nurture compassionate, empowered lifelong learners, we prioritize creating a safe, supportive environment where every learner feels seen, heard, and valued. Our commitment to diversity, inclusion, peace, and sustainability extends to fostering emotional resilience, self-awareness, and balance. By promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and open expression, CIS ensures that students, teachers, and families thrive together—building a community where wellbeing is both a shared responsibility and a foundation for excellence.
Our School Counselling Department is committed to fostering the social, emotional, and psychological wellbeing of every student. Through a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate Social–Emotional Learning (SEL) programme across all grades, we strive to equip students with essential life skills that support their growth both inside and outside the classroom.
We offer one-to-one counselling services to help students navigate challenges, strengthen emotional resilience, build social skills and develop self awareness so as to enhance their overall adjustment in school. In addition, our life-skills workshops empower students with practical tools for communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and self-management.
To build a whole-school culture of wellbeing, we conduct capacity-building workshops for teachers, enabling them to better understand and support student wellbeing. Our Positive Parenting workshops further extend this support to families, strengthening the school–home partnership.
The department also leads key advocacy initiatives, including World Mental Health Day, Anti-Bullying Campaigns, Sensitization on Suicide Prevention and other awareness drives that cultivate empathy, respect, and a safe learning environment for all.
Through these integrated services, the Counselling Department remains dedicated to nurturing confident, compassionate, and emotionally balanced learners.
